Specialist orthodontic care for children & teens

Long waitlists are frustrating, and not every child qualifies for NHS treatment. At LUME Dental, we offer affordable private braces for children and teens to give them happy, healthy smiles. If your child needs early support or braces to guide their adult teeth, we make the experience feel positive and worry-free

Head down to our private dental clinic in Wilmslow, where we help younger patients feel excited about their treatment options, or call the office to find out more.

What to expect at your child's orthodontic appointment

Start your visit with a warm welcome and a relaxed chat. Our specialist orthodontists will explain what’s happening and what comes next. If your child still has some baby teeth, that’s okay. Early intervention helps us guide their adult teeth into place and prevent future dental concerns like crooked teeth, tooth decay, or gum disease.

We know visiting the dentist can be scary for younger patients, but we aim to make this a thing of the past. We’ll talk you through every treatment option, from fixed braces to clear aligners, so you can make the best choice together with your child.

We leave time for questions from you or your child and make sure everyone’s happy before leaving.

Treatments

Why choose composite bonding with LUME

LUME bonding transforms your smile with a treatment that’s natural in appearance, long-lasting in effect, custom to your needs, and completely pain-free.

Early treatment for crooked teeth in children

Spotting problems early makes a big difference. Early orthodontic treatment helps guide permanent teeth into position while your child is still undergoing rapid facial growth.

It can shorten future treatment time, support healthy jaw development, and set the stage for a confident smile that grows with them.

Fixed metal braces

Traditional metal braces are now smaller and more comfortable than ever. They’re still one of the most effective ways to treat misaligned teeth or bite issues.

Your child will still be able to do all their favourite things: eat, play, chat, and smile comfortably, and you’ll see their confidence grow as their new smile starts to take shape.

Clear ceramic braces

If your teen feels unsure about traditional braces, clear fixed braces can provide a more discreet option. These tooth coloured wires and brackets blend in with the teeth while working just as well as metal braces.

They are a popular choice for teenage patients who want straight teeth without drawing attention.

Clear aligners

Older children and teens love Invisalign clear aligners. They are virtually invisible, easy to remove, and ideal for active lifestyles or contact sports. Removable aligners gently move the teeth over time, creating natural results without the look of metal braces.

And because they’re removable, it’s easier to brush, floss, and keep the teeth healthy.

Common questions

Want to learn about the latest treatment techniques? Or does your child have questions? Our frequently asked questions about private orthodontics for children and teens can help you find the answers you need.

At this time, no. Our primary focus is on helping children and teenagers who cannot access NHS orthodontic treatment. We also help families who want to avoid the long NHS waitlists. We specialise in affordable private orthodontic care, including early treatment for complex tooth straightening, fixed metal braces, clear ceramic braces, and clear aligners.
Yes! With aligners, just take them out while playing. With braces, we may recommend a protective mouthguard.
You may notice some slight discomfort when you switch to a new set of aligners, but that just means they’re working! Most patients find that it settles within a few days.
With braces, you might feel some slight tightness after adjustments. Over-the-counter pain relief usually helps, and discomfort fades within a few days.
